The 2008 Los Angeles Motor Show

Ferrari, Land Rover, Rolls Royce and Suzuki have pulled out of the 2008 Los Angeles Motor Show – so who will ‘Governator’ Arnold Schwarzenegger along with thousands of Californians come to see?

For a start, there’s the new Nissan 370Z sports coupe: the first full redesign of the superb 350Z, which features – as the name suggests – a new 3.7-litre V6 engine up front, along with some styling changes.

And this new V6 engine develops 330bhp – no performance stats out yet, but we’d expect a 0-62mph time of around five seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Also on the glamorous stands of Los Angeles – where David Beckham plies his trade – is the electric Mini: a car which, if successful, could revolutionise mass-production zero-emission cars.

Honda also throws its hat into the zero-emission ring with its stunning FC supercar concept, and although Fezza has dropped out, Maserati will bring some Italian flair with the simply sensational Quattroporte S – a car with 430bhp, a 4.7-litre V8, four-doors, and jaw-dropping looks.

So what do you think about the LA Motor Show debuts? Does this rank as one of your favourite motor shows?

If not – what is?
